Saturday, March 1, 7PM
Froggy Butoh Space Gorilla Drone performance at Winter Shack
20 *A* Vernon, Brooklyn, New York 11206
Eric Lindley of Careful will play a drone version of “Froggy Goes A-Courting (King Kong Kitchie Kitchie Ki-Me-O)” as I perform a butoh style dance as the space gorilla Ro-Man, exploring transcendence and cross-species love. Colored ice will also melt.
Monotonic Surfaces: An Account of the Arctic Regions, a video and sound art installation at The Center for Strategic Art and Agriculture
The Center for Strategic Art and Agriculture at The Silent Barn, 603 Bushwick Ave., Brooklyn, New York 11206
Each of the videos were made in collaboration with musicians and sound artists whose works I brought on the expedition, broadcast and re-recorded on site. The sounds, melodies and tones of each auditory work influenced my videographic choices, both in terms of subject and treatment. Collaborators include Steve Anderson, Stephanie Richards, Tunde Adebimpe, Sandy Gordon, Eric Lindley, Chris Colthart, Todd Carter and Guru Rugu.
Monotonic Surfaces opens Tuesday, March 11, 2014, 6 – 9pm
“Submerged!” is a new seven-channel video+sound art exhibition based on three short stories by co-curator Leo Kuelbs, featuring Danielle de Picciotto and Alex Hacke, Sam Marlow and Alon Cohen, Nicole Antebi and Laura Ortman, Kitzinger Gabor and Alex Hamadey, Shir Lieberman, Joanthan Phelps and Fabio Fonda, United VJs, and Jim Ellis. Curated by Leo Kuelbs and Karl Erickson.
“Submerged!”opens at Higgs Field New Media Gallery in Budapest on March 13 and at Radiator Gallery in Long Island City, NYC on March 21, 2014
